When Good Pictures Go Bad

So, it's been rainy and cold for what seems like forever. We've basically been sitting around a whole lot. Today out of boredom I was trying to take pictures of Macie and she did her usual thing--spit up

. This is not conducive to picture taking. Ryan was completely cooperative--except for his hair.

In all fairness to both kids, these pictures are completely out of focus which doesn't help at all. I did eventually (after like 5 paper towels) get some decent shots of Macie. No luck with Ryan's hair.

Grandpa's Garage

Probably one of Ryan's most favorite places is Grandpa's Garage. He loves "building things" with grandpa. This usually means following grandpa around asking him, "Grandpa, what are you doing?" --about a hundred times. Finally, grandpa gives up doing whatever he was doing and helps Ryan hammer a nail into a piece of wood. Ryan has the cutest tool belt that he wears while working with grandpa. I keep forgetting to take pictures of it but finally remembered this time.

Ride Ryan Ride

Ryan got a new bike for Christmas. It's super cute watching him ride it. I feel a little ambivalent about it because he LOVES it but there are no brakes, which causes him to crash (usually at the bottom of a little hill). So far no lasting injuries. Macie got to ride in the stroller for the first time, too. We're too lazy to haul the stroller down 3 flights of stairs but we finally sucked it up and took her for a stroll. She took in all the sights and sounds and didn't even mind the cold.

Ryan says the funniest things

Ryan: "Can I use the computer?"

Me: Nope, I'm using it right now.

Ryan: "But I NEEEEED to. I'm just going to check my email."

Ryan is putting an animal puzzle together. The next piece to put in is the parrot.

Ryan: "Where does the carrot bird go?"

After going potty for a LONG time Ryan runs out to us and says, "Mommy I just went number TEN!"

Ryan calls his Aunt Renae "Aunt Bernae"

Ryan calls his uncles Dan and Keith "Apple Dan and Apple Keith"

Ryan calls Target "the Popcorn Store"-this is because I used to always get him popcorn when I shopped there so he'd be occupied for a long time and I could browse.

Ryan calls Costco "the Birthday Cake Store"-this is because one time I bought a cheesecake there for Bunko.

Ryans calls Lowes "the Christmas Store". We have no idea why. We never bought anything Christmasy there. He also calls his small yellow blocks "Christmas". Not Christmas blocks. Just Christmas.

Whenever we see an airplane Ryan says, "It's going to the Oport!"

Since Ryan was about a year old he said the word, "Doodah" and soon after he started saying "Meeeem". We don't know where these came from but he still says them.

The other day I threw away one of Ryan's drawings (I know, bad mom:). Later he was throwing something away and saw the drawing in the trash and said, "Mommy, that is NOT VERY NICE!" and he took it out.

When Ryan was about 2 1/2 he started saying, "I have a IDEA!" and we'd say, "What's your idea?" and he'd say, "Oh, number 2." His idea was number 2 for a long time until all of a sudden it changed to number 4.
