Goodbye Macie's mullett

I've been resisting cutting Macie's mullett because, hey, she doesn't have that much hair to begin with so why cut what little is there? However, Rich gave me a talking to and said that the mullett had to go. So, we finally did it. Macie put up a good fight but in the end the scissors won.

bumps, bruises, and black eyes

We haven't done much in a while but thought I'd update the blog:). Macie has really started becoming a little monkey. We find her climbing all kinds of things and getting into trouble. This is such a hard stage--well a painful stage. I just want to line Macie's world with pillows but know that she's just going to have to endure some bumps and bruises. This was her first big bruise but she's already gotten a bunch more, including a black eye for a day. And I'm sure she'll get her fair share from Ryan who's getting less and less tolerant of his toys being taken from his baby sister. On another note, since she was born she's struggled with reflux and hasn't gained much weight. I finally switched her to formula this last month and she gained almost a pound in 2 weeks. I was pretty happy and relieved with the news. And even though nursing is convenient in its own way I've been enjoying Rich getting to take care of early morning feedings:).

Aaaaaawwwwwww Crap!

So, yesterday Ryan and I were going to share some ice cream and there were no clean spoons in the drawer. Well then we check the dishwasher and of course the dishes weren't washed so no clean spoons there either. Ryan was so disappointed about no clean spoons that he said, "Aaaawwwww Crap!" I couldn't believe what I had heard! But it still was pretty cute. One thing did confuse me though. It was the Aaaaaaaawww part of the phrase--I don't really say that. And then all of a sudden today I was at the park with some friends, including my friend Elaine who we hang out with a lot, and Elaine says, "Aaaaawwwwww Crap!" My message to you parents is to be careful who your kids spend time with:). You never know what they'll pick up!

The picture is of Macie with a Cheerio cemented to her lip by some snot. Total Kodak moment. Poor girl--double ear infections--and still a trooper.

Ryan says the funniest things

Ryan: "Can I use the computer?"

Me: Nope, I'm using it right now.

Ryan: "But I NEEEEED to. I'm just going to check my email."

Ryan is putting an animal puzzle together. The next piece to put in is the parrot.

Ryan: "Where does the carrot bird go?"

After going potty for a LONG time Ryan runs out to us and says, "Mommy I just went number TEN!"

Ryan calls his Aunt Renae "Aunt Bernae"

Ryan calls his uncles Dan and Keith "Apple Dan and Apple Keith"

Ryan calls Target "the Popcorn Store"-this is because I used to always get him popcorn when I shopped there so he'd be occupied for a long time and I could browse.

Ryan calls Costco "the Birthday Cake Store"-this is because one time I bought a cheesecake there for Bunko.

Ryans calls Lowes "the Christmas Store". We have no idea why. We never bought anything Christmasy there. He also calls his small yellow blocks "Christmas". Not Christmas blocks. Just Christmas.

Whenever we see an airplane Ryan says, "It's going to the Oport!"

Since Ryan was about a year old he said the word, "Doodah" and soon after he started saying "Meeeem". We don't know where these came from but he still says them.

The other day I threw away one of Ryan's drawings (I know, bad mom:). Later he was throwing something away and saw the drawing in the trash and said, "Mommy, that is NOT VERY NICE!" and he took it out.

When Ryan was about 2 1/2 he started saying, "I have a IDEA!" and we'd say, "What's your idea?" and he'd say, "Oh, number 2." His idea was number 2 for a long time until all of a sudden it changed to number 4.
