Viva la playa

On Saturday it was 100. So, we headed to the beach. Last minute beach trips are quite the feat with 3 kids in tow. But we had lots of fun.

We learned some valuable lessons.

#1 we need to go to the beach more often and
#2 no more letting Ryan watch Shark Week on the Discovery Channel.

Here's what we did:

Macie dumped sand on her face.

She and I watched Ryan fill up 30 buckets of water while Rich stood guard of the ocean (see them way out there?).

Ryan dumped 30 buckets of water right by our beach towels. Did he play in the wet sand? No. He just wanted to dump water right by us. Um, can you move away?

I took a snooze with Juliet. She's got this beach thing down. Takes after her mom, I guess.

Macie stepped on Juliet's head and introduced her to the feeling of sand in the eyes. See how they're red? Sad. Juliet smiled.

Rich did daddy things like hold terrified Macie at the water's edge. She was not a fan of the waves. Neither was Ryan. He was absolutely convinced a shark would jump up and eat him. He was also afraid to walk on the sand for fear that crabs might pinch his feet. Yep, no more Discovery Channel.

It's too bad we didn't get a shot of me with Macie on my shoulders as I carried all that stuff. It was just like that scene in Summer Rental with John Candy.

Looks like a lot of fun. We really miss the beach. It's good they have a healthy fear of the waves, Mav just runs straight for them! Please go a few times for us!

We went to the beach, too! (Along with the entire rest of the bay area...) Best idea ever, right? I've had enough of this heat. So glad it's cooling down again. Your kids are so cute!
